...on the down hill

Carrie is now SEVEN months old!! Time has really flown by, but we have been loving every minute. I constantly feel blessed to have this amazing, beautiful baby girl in my life. She has really changed the dynamic in our home, and we all love her so much!! I never understood how much I would love being a mom, ya there are hard times, but they are well worth it. My little family makes me happier than anything in this world!

Well, Carrie has been a busy girl this last month and has learned a lot of new things!! She is learning to get around on the floor, and gets better every time I put her down. Kevin doesn't believe me (because I haven't been able to get her to do it since) but I taught her to clap... at least for that moment. My sister was there as a witness, ask her!!

*This is a cool new trick that Daddy taught me...

I got the chance to sample some new foods...

In my down time I enjoy some good Baby Einstein...
...and I LOVE to read!!

(Ya, she learned to read this month. I know,
AMAZING, right??)
My Mommy takes a lot of pictures!!
Here are her favorite ones of me from last month...*

I was looking through some pictures today, and I came across a few that just made me smile. One evening Andrew had wanted to use the camera and take some pictures of Mommy. So me being the wonderful mom that I am, (haha) I let him. He had so much fun, and talks all the time about taking more, although, he hasn't been given that opportunity again.

Here is the first one... me and Carrie. Carrie's body was chopped off, but pretty good I thought!!
and they just get better from here.....

this time he got our bodies, just no heads. If I put this one with the one above, they would almost create the whole picture!!

This time he mostly got the dresser. Not that I can blame him... if I had the choice of taking a picture of me, or the dresser, I would probably pick the dresser too.I think that we have a photographer in the making!!!

My birthday wish...

came true!!!
I had such a FUN birthday!! I may even go as far as saying that this was my best birthday EVER!!! I really can't believe I am getting so old... but we won't dwell too much on that. :) We spent the day at Bear Lake. The weather was absolutely perfect, it was hot, but not too hot. The kids both enjoyed themselves, especially Andrew. We really had to drag him to the car when we finally did leave. It was wonderful to be away from home and just be able to enjoy time together as a family, as well as the beautiful scenery around us. When we were first setting up camp there were a bunch of seagulls around. Andrew thought this was so exciting, and he spent a lot of time chasing them around, it was so fun to watch him run and play!! Carrie wasn't entirely sure how much she liked the water, which kindof surprised me, but she loved playing on the sand. On more than one occasion I saw her with a fistful of sand that had made it to her mouth. We had a lot of fun digging in the sand, (Kevin made a cool castle!), making mud pies, looking for seashells, picnicing, and relaxing!. The water was surprisingly warm (or at least not as cold as we had anticipated!!) We were able to be in a spot that had a large shallow water area which gave Andrew a lot of freedom to play!! It really was the perfect day!!

RANDOM pics...

Andrew was the first of three grand kids on the Carpenter side to be born within a month and a half of one another (so they all just turned 3!!). Andrew's birthday was in July, and Lauren and Lizzy were both born in August. These three kids are so cute!! They are each so different, and all have strong personalities!

Half of these pictures are from Lauren and Lizzy's birthday party, and the other half are from when we went up the Canyon to spend an evening.

We now have TWO mobile children in our home... AHHH!!
Carrie is obviously not as quick as Andrew, but she is doing her best to keep up with him!!
She is now able to "wiggle" her way around the room to get something she wants.
It is so much fun to watch her get around!
I can't believe she is old enough to be doing this, crazy!!

One of Andrew's all time favorite things to do lately is to play Mario Kart on the Wii. He talks about it ALL day long, and gets upset when I tell him it is time to turn it off!!
He is only 3 and already addicted to video games??
It does have its advantages though... he has been going to bed wonderfully lately because I use his "racing game" as a bribe to go to sleep! If he doesn't stay in bed, no racing game in the morning. He learned that when I say that I mean it the hard way,
but since then it has worked!!

Andrew loves to paint!
I love this video because I asked him what he was making a picture of,
and he actually told me, "A train!" I love that when he draws now (although it is usually hard to know what the picture is unless you ask) he is drawing real things.

Last night, as an early birthday present, Kevin took me to see a Ryan Shupe & the Rubberband concert. It was fantastic! My wonderful sister-in-law willingly watched the kids for us so that we could go. Since having kids it is a rare occasion that we get to go out on a REAL date (we have movie night at home often, but don't usually GO anywhere), so both Kevin and I were way excited. My sister introduced us to this band a few years back when they came to perform here in Logan at the Summerfest, and we have enjoyed their music ever since! It had been a couple of years since we had seen them perform, and when I found out they would be in Utah I was way excited, so Kev got us some tickets. Their music is great, but to watch them perform is amazing... those of you who have seen them perform know how talented and energetic they are, they never disappoint!! The concert was at an outside amphitheater which made it all the more perfect, and we had awesome seats, we were on the third row!! Thanks Kevin for a fun night out, and thank you again Lori for watching the kids, they had a blast with you and your family!!

You can probably hear a HUGE sigh of relief coming from our home, from both me and especially Kevin! Kevin is in the process of applying to graduate school. He has been so extremely busy studying and preparing for the GMat test, we haven't seen him around home much. Yesterday he was able to take the test, and he did well!! It feels like there is just a huge load that has been lifted, and we are so thankful to have that out of the way. There are still a lot of things that are up in the air, and a lot of unknowns, but that test was very stressful!! I am glad to know that whatever happens, and wherever the road leads we will be able to experience it together, and in the end, that is what really matters. I am so proud of you Kevin for the accomplishments you have made. Thank you for being such a wonderful husband and father, and for the wonderful example you are to me. LOVE YOU!!

Can You Pass the FOOD Please?...

Sometimes the life of a stay at home mom can feel mundane. Overall life is the same from day to day, no drastic changes or events. So it is no surprise when I get all excited about the small changes that take place in our home! My entertainment is watching my kids play, grow, and learn! TODAY we were able to experience a little something new. Andrew and I introduced Carrie to the world of REAL solid foods... not just the mushy and gooey baby foods. Cheerios here we come! Andrew was so excited to help out. When Carrie would drop the cereal, or knock it off the tray onto the floor he quickly picked up after her. (Wish he did that all the time!) I never knew that watching someone eat a Cheerio could be this much fun!!

Wondering what in the world all the excitement is about!
Ah, got one!!
Now if I can only get it in my mouth...

A little sample of the EXCITING moment as it happened, LIVE!

I just love all of the goofy faces she makes all the time, so fun!

Little Moments Mean the Most...

Since I use this WAY more than I write in my actual journal, I am going to add this quick moment that I want to remember!!

Today I was cleaning in the kitchen, and Andrew walked up behind me. He hugged my legs and while looking up at me he said, "Mommy, I love you."

Always Lookin' for a Weekend

This last weekend we traveled down to SL and were able to stay at my parents house. There is never a dull moment there, and there is so much for the kids to do! Andrew loves most of all running around and playing in their big beautiful backyard. Both Andrew and Carrie love all the attention they get from everyone. I was able to spend time with all of my fabulous siblings, and the kids were able to play with their cousins!! I have such an awesome family, and love it when we are able to all get together. GOOD TIMES!

Let the good times ROLL!!

Over the weekend we took the kids out and went for a good old fashioned walk. It was hot, but it was wonderful to get out and be together as a FAMILY! One of Andrew's favorite things is to ride his scooter, and we love it because it WEARS HIM OUT!! And he is also so darn cute doing so! Whenever we go on a walk with the kids we usually expect to be gone awhile because Andrew stops to look at and point out EVERYTHING. (The first video shows a quick example of this when an airplane is flying overhead). I love that he gets so excited about the world around him, and wants to explore it all!!!
